Google Chrome is our preferred browser, and given the choice, Chrome is preferred over Google Chromium because it is more stable/formal. Chrome must be downloaded from Google directly. Chromium is available from dpkg or Synaptic. - Download latest version of Chrome from [[https://www.google.com/chrome/downloads/|Google]]. It is a Deb package so it can be opened by clicking on the filename in the download directory. Installs are usually faultless. Defaults, settings and extensions are restored when you sign in and turn on "**Sync**" You may need to manually install LastPass password manager to get the passwords for your Google user to log into Chrome. - For some reason clean installs sometimes lead to problems with getting external web links to work in Chrome. If so, add the "%U" option after the Chrome exec commands in the $HOME/.local/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop file. The last file I looked at had the Chrome exec in "Exec=/usr/bin/google-chrome %U" which worked fine. There are two entries to update with the "%U"
